Divorce Decree or Gazette: Which Proof PAN Accepts for a Name Change
After marriage, the marriage certificate showed both the maiden and the married name, so the PAN portal accepted it as proof of the change. A divorce decree shows that a marriage ended; it does not show the name you are going back to, unless a court clause says so, and the portals work from a document list. The document that shows the reverted name and links it to the married one is the gazette notification. The Kolkata Gazette Part II is accepted; its guideline covers reversion to a maiden name with the decree under Annexure II.
Then revert Aadhaar with the gazette. The PAN correction is verified against Aadhaar, and the paperless e-KYC route reads the Aadhaar name directly; an Aadhaar still in the married name fails it.
