Its guidelines say loans up to Rs 7.5 lakh get a 75 percent government credit guarantee.

Banks often ask for a parent as co-borrower. The parent's name must match on Aadhaar, PAN, bank statements and income proof.

The parent's name on the student's certificates should also match the parent's own ID. If the father's name is misspelt on the Madhyamik certificate, an affidavit usually explains it.
Income Certificate Name and the PM-Vidyalaxmi Interest Subsidy
The PM-Vidyalaxmi interest subvention depends on family income. The income proof, such as an income certificate, salary slip or ITR, must be in the parent's correct name.
