About CUET UG for West Bengal Students
The Common University Entrance Test (CUET UG) is run by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for undergraduate admission to central universities and many other institutions that choose to use it.
In West Bengal, Visva-Bharati, the central university at Santiniketan, uses CUET scores for undergraduate admission. Many state universities in West Bengal follow their own admission process, so check what each university you want actually uses.
Many students from West Bengal also take CUET for universities in other states, such as Delhi University or BHU. Their documents travel with them, so a name mismatch here can cause trouble far from home.

The CUET Rule: Only One Name Field Can Be Corrected
Reports of the CUET UG 2026 correction window, held from 9 to 11 February 2026, describe a limited identity correction: you could change only one of your name, father's name or mother's name.
The same reports say date of birth and gender were editable, along with category, PwBD status, Class 10 and 12 details, subjects, exam city and medium. The mobile number, email, both addresses, emergency contact and photograph could not be changed. Extra fees applied only if a change raised the fee.
This is more generous than WBJEE, where the name and both parents' names are locked completely. But the one-change limit still traps students who make two slips.
Which Document to Copy Your Name From for CUET
Use your Class 10 certificate, the Madhyamik certificate for most West Bengal students. It is the oldest board record of your name and both parents' names. Then check that your Class 12 papers say the same.

If Two Name Fields Are Wrong: Which One to Fix
Say you misspelt both your own name and your mother's name. You can fix only one in the window. In most cases, fix your own name. It appears on your admit card, scorecard and every admission record, and universities check it first.
A parent's name with a small slip is easier to explain at admission with your Class 10 certificate, which shows the correct spelling. If the parent's name is badly wrong, for example a different person's name, that may matter more; weigh it against how small your own error is.
Whatever is left uncorrected, write it down and prepare linking proof for admission.
Aadhaar, DigiLocker and Your CUET Name
Reports of the 2026 window list Aadhaar details as editable if they were not used at first. Many universities pull marksheets through DigiLocker, which fetches a document only when the name on it matches Aadhaar.

CUET Name Mismatch at University Admission
The university checks your CUET scorecard against your Class 10 and Class 12 papers and your identity proof during admission. Each university has its own rules, and many use their own portals after CUET.
Carry originals and copies of your Class 10 and 12 certificates and marksheets, Aadhaar, category certificate if claimed, and the CUET admit card and scorecard. For any difference the window could not fix, carry a one and the same person affidavit. Whether it is accepted is the university's decision.
Mother's and Father's Name Mismatch in CUET
Parents' names cause many CUET slips. A mother's name may be typed with her married surname while the Class 10 certificate shows her maiden name, or a father's name may be shortened to initials.
