WBSEDCL Recruitment Name Mismatch: Form, Certificates and Domicile Must Agree
The West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company asks you to spell your own name and your father's and mother's names exactly as your certificates and mark sheets show them. Once you click Submit, nothing in the form can be changed, and your domicile and caste certificates are checked in original at the interview. WBSEDCL Recruitment: Junior Engineer and Assistant Manager Posts (Notification MPP/2025/04)
WBSEDCL is the state company that supplies electricity to most of West Bengal outside the CESC area. Its head office is Vidyut Bhavan in Salt Lake, and it recruits through numbered notifications on its careers page.
Notification No. MPP/2025/04, dated 24 November 2025, invited applications from 27 November to 29 December 2025 for 447 posts: 401 Junior Engineer (Electrical) Grade II, 20 Assistant Manager (HR&A) and 26 Assistant Manager (F&A). The fee was Rs 300 for JE and Rs 400 for AM, with no fee for SC, ST, PwBD and some other groups.
Selection is an 85 mark computer based test and a 15 mark interview, with document verification and a medical. Job sites reported the CBT on 27 January 2026.

WBSEDCL Rule: Names Spelt as in Certificates and Mark Sheets
Clause 6 of the instructions says the name of the candidate, his or her father and mother, should be spelt correctly in the application form as it appears in the certificates and mark sheets.
Note that it says certificates, not Aadhaar. If Aadhaar spells your name one way and your Madhyamik certificate another, the form follows the certificate. Keep an affidavit for the Aadhaar difference.
The notification also warns that incorrect or false information cancels candidature at any stage, and that if a shortcoming is found even after appointment, services are liable to be terminated without notice.
No Change in the WBSEDCL Form After You Click Submit
WBSEDCL's instructions are plain: use Save and Next to check your details, because no change is permitted after clicking Submit, and no request to change data will be entertained.
There is one honest way out. The notification says that in case of multiple online registrations for the same post, only the latest registration will be considered. So if you spot a wrong spelling while the window is still open, register again with the right details and pay again if a fee applies. The older form is then ignored.
After the last date, that door closes. Then all you can do is carry proof that explains the difference.
Father's and Mother's Name Mismatch in WBSEDCL Applications
Most notices ask only for the father's name. WBSEDCL also asks for the mother's name, spelt as the certificates show it. Many West Bengal certificates carry a mother's name with a different surname, initials, or a spelling the family no longer uses. Type it as your Class 10 certificate prints it.
If your Madhyamik and Higher Secondary certificates disagree on a parent's name, follow the older one and keep an affidavit for the other. See father name correction and mother name correction if a record really needs fixing.
Date of Birth Proof for WBSEDCL: Birth Certificate or Class 10
WBSEDCL accepts the date of birth in a birth certificate issued by a competent authority, or in the pass certificate or admit card of Class 10 or an equivalent exam.
That is useful for Madhyamik candidates: the WBBSE marksheet has no date of birth, but the Madhyamik admit card and pass certificate do. The minimum age is 18 and the maximum 32 as on 1 January 2025, with the usual relaxations.
Whichever you produce, its name must match your form, or you need proof linking the two.
WBSEDCL Domicile and Caste Certificate: Same Name Needed
WBSEDCL jobs need West Bengal domicile: either ten years' continuous residence as on 31 December 2024, or a parent who is a permanent resident. Proof must be in WBSEDCL's own Proforma-A or Proforma-B; the notice says no other format will be accepted.
Reserved category candidates need a caste or EWS certificate from a competent authority of West Bengal, such as the SDO or BDO. Look at the spelling on both before the form. Photo ID at the WBSEDCL CBT: Which IDs Are Accepted
You must bring the admit card and a valid photo ID in original. Accepted: PAN, passport, permanent driving licence, voter card with photograph, Aadhaar, or a government employee ID. Ration card, college ID and learner's licence are not accepted.
The notification does not say what happens when the ID spells your name differently. Do not test it. Carry the ID that matches your admit card, and keep your affidavit or marriage certificate in the same folder.
Upload a signature that is not in capital letters, as the notice asks, and sign the same way on the day.
Affidavit, Marriage Certificate or Kolkata Gazette for WBSEDCL
The WBSEDCL notification does not list which name change documents it accepts. We say that plainly, rather than guess. Carry the proof that honestly fits, in original, with copies.
For a spelling, initials or word order difference, an affidavit is enough; see one and the same person affidavit. A married woman needs her marriage certificate. A real change of name needs a gazette.

WBSEDCL Interview and Document Verification: What to Carry
At the interview you must produce originals of your age proof, essential qualification, caste certificate, domicile proof, and any EC card, NOC or ex-serviceman discharge certificate. The notice says candidature stands cancelled if eligibility is not found at verification.
For JE, that means your three year Diploma in Electrical Engineering recognised by the West Bengal State Council of Technical Education, with mark sheets. Check the diploma spelling against your Madhyamik certificate before you apply.
Put your name change proof on top of the folder, not at the bottom.
