In a DVC Executive Trainee application, type your name exactly as your GATE scorecard prints it, because DVC does not change the name after you submit and GATE does not change an issued scorecard. If your Class 10 certificate or degree spells it differently, carry an original affidavit to document verification; a married name needs the marriage certificate, and a real change of name a gazette. Damodar Valley Corporation: Executive Trainee Jobs Through GATE
The Damodar Valley Corporation was set up in 1948 under an Act of Parliament. Its head office is DVC Towers on VIP Road, Kolkata. In West Bengal it runs the Mejia power station in Bankura, the Durgapur Steel power station in Paschim Bardhaman and the Raghunathpur power station in Purulia, along with plants and dams in Jharkhand.
Executive Trainees are hired with no written test and no interview. DVC shortlists on GATE marks out of 100, calls about five candidates per post for document verification, and then holds a medical examination.
Two recent drives show the pattern. The 2024 drive for 176 posts in six branches ran from 7 June to 7 July 2024 and used GATE 2023 marks. The 2026 drive, open from 10 March to 10 April 2026, took 16 trainees in IT, Mining and Chemical on GATE 2025 scores only, with a fee of Rs 300 for General, OBC and EWS candidates.

Your GATE Scorecard Name Sets the Name for the DVC Form
DVC asks you to keep your GATE admit card and scorecard ready and enter the details exactly as they appear. Since shortlisting runs only on GATE marks, the scorecard is the record DVC matches you against.
GATE will not fix a mistake for you later. Its official FAQ says an issued scorecard cannot be changed, because its data is already shared with institutes and PSUs. So if the scorecard says one thing and your degree another, the scorecard spelling is the one to type, and the difference is something you explain with proof. Do not type your new or corrected name in the DVC form while the scorecard carries the old one. That turns one small difference into two.
No Name Change After You Submit the DVC Application
DVC's Executive Trainee advertisement says that once the application is submitted, no request regarding change in GATE Registration No. or Name shall be entertained.
Read the preview line by line before you pay. Check the spelling, the order of first name and surname, initials, and your father's name.
If you find a mistake after submission and the window is still open, the honest route is a fresh application, not a letter asking DVC to edit. Read the notice for your drive on whether a second application is allowed and which one counts.
Class 10 Certificate as Date of Birth Proof in DVC Recruitment
DVC takes date of birth from your Class X board certificate or Class X passing certificate. For Madhyamik candidates, remember that the WBBSE marksheet carries no date of birth; the pass certificate does.
That makes the Class 10 certificate a second name record on the table, beside the scorecard and degree. If it spells your name differently, it does not stop you, but you need an affidavit tying the two spellings together.
If the Class 10 certificate itself has a real mistake, correction goes through the school to the board, and boards correct errors, not chosen new spellings.
DVC Signature Rule: One Style From Form to Joining
DVC's notice warns that during verification all signatures should be identical, and that a differently styled signature on different occasions may lead to rejection of the candidature.
This catches people who changed their name and started signing the new one halfway through the process. Pick the signature you uploaded with the form and use it at document verification, the medical and joining.
If you want to change your signature after joining, do it through your office with the service record, not during recruitment.
Married Name and Maiden Name in a DVC Application
If your GATE scorecard and degree are in your maiden name, applying in that name keeps every record identical. That is usually the simplest honest choice.
If you apply in your married name, the scorecard will not match the form, so carry your original marriage certificate, which shows both names. If it has a mistake, see marriage certificate correction first.
A surname change by marriage does not need a gazette for DVC. It may for other records later, but not to prove the link here.
Which Name Change Proof to Carry to DVC
The DVC notices we read do not list which name change documents they accept. Other employers in West Bengal, such as SAIL's Durgapur plant and the Kolkata port, accept an original gazette, marriage certificate or affidavit. For a spelling, initials or word order difference, an affidavit is enough; see one and the same person affidavit. For a real change of name, a gazette is the proof, and it is supporting proof only: it does not rewrite your scorecard or degree.

DVC Document Verification: What to Carry
DVC asks for the originals of everything you uploaded. That means your GATE scorecard and admit card, Class 10 certificate for date of birth, Class 12 certificate, degree or provisional degree with mark sheets, and a photo ID.
OBC (NCL) and EWS candidates need a Government of India format certificate from a competent authority issued in the current year. Check its spelling matches the form; if not, correct it through the SDO before the date.
Put the original affidavit, marriage certificate or gazette in the same folder, with two photocopies. After verification comes the pre-employment medical by the DVC Medical Board, whose decision is final.
