PMEGP Loan Name Mismatch in West Bengal

The Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) helps people start a new small unit with a bank loan and a government margin money subsidy of 15 to 35 percent of the project cost. Applications go online to the KVIC portal and are handled by KVIC, the state Khadi and Village Industries Board or the District Industries Centre. Your name is checked on Aadhaar, PAN, the bank account, the EDP training certificate and, for a higher subsidy, the special category proof. This page shows what to match so the subsidy is not held up.

PMEGP Loan Name Mismatch (Quick Answer)

For a PMEGP loan and subsidy, your name should match on Aadhaar, PAN, the bank account, the online application and your EDP training certificate. If you claim the higher special-category subsidy, your caste, disability or other category certificate must be in the same name. Fix Aadhaar and PAN first, then the category certificate, and keep an affidavit ready for any small difference. The subsidy is 15 to 35 percent depending on category and area.

PMEGP Subsidy in West Bengal: 15 to 35 Percent Margin Money, Agencies and Portal

The KVIC PMEGP FAQ lists the margin money subsidy as 15 percent urban and 25 percent rural for the general category, and 25 percent urban and 35 percent rural for special categories, which include SC, ST, OBC, minorities, women, ex-servicemen and persons with disabilities.

Your own contribution is 10 percent of the project cost for the general category and 5 percent for special categories, the FAQ says.

Applications are made online on the KVIC PMEGP portal and handled by KVIC, the state Khadi and Village Industries Board, or the District Industries Centre for urban units.

Any adult above 18 can apply. The FAQ says EDP training is required: 10 working days for projects above Rs 5 lakh and 6 days for smaller ones.

KYC

PMEGP Application: Aadhaar, PAN and Bank Account Names Must Match

Your Aadhaar, PAN and bank account should all show the same name as the online application. If they differ, fix that first; see PAN and Aadhaar mismatch.

The loan and the subsidy flow through your bank, so the account name matters; see name correction in a bank account.

If a small spelling difference remains, ask the bank whether it accepts an affidavit; see one and the same person affidavit.

Category Proof

SC, ST or OBC Certificate for the Higher PMEGP Subsidy in the Same Name

To get the higher subsidy, you show proof of your special category. In West Bengal, a caste or OBC certificate is issued by the SDO, and its name must match your Aadhaar.

If it differs, correct the certificate first; see caste certificate name change and OBC certificate name change.

Applying for a fresh certificate in a new spelling leaves two certificates in two names, which causes more trouble later. Correct the old one.

Women

Women PMEGP Applicants With a Maiden Name on Papers

Women qualify for the special-category subsidy. If your caste certificate, school papers or bank account show your maiden name while Aadhaar shows your married name, carry the marriage certificate.

Better still, bring Aadhaar, PAN and bank into one name before applying; see Aadhaar name change after marriage.

A caste certificate is usually in your father's family name; the marriage certificate links it to your married name.

EDP

PMEGP EDP Training Certificate: Register With Your Aadhaar Spelling

The EDP training certificate is part of the file. It is issued in the name you register with, so register with the same spelling as Aadhaar.

If the certificate has a mistake, ask the training centre to correct it before the bank releases the subsidy.

Keep a copy of the attendance and completion record.

One Unit

One PMEGP Unit per Family: Maiden Name Is Not a Way Around It

The KVIC FAQ says an entrepreneur cannot submit more than one project, and defines family as husband and spouse.

So if a husband already has a PMEGP unit, a wife's application in her maiden name is not a way around the rule. Be honest about family details.

If an earlier application in another spelling exists, tell the agency so the records can be linked rather than flagged.

After

After the PMEGP Unit Starts: Udyam, GST and Licences in the Same Name

Once the unit runs, register it on Udyam and, if needed, GST, in the same name; see name change in Udyam and GST.

A local trade licence is also needed; see trade licence name change.

Keep all records in one name, as the subsidy may be checked after the lock-in period.
