Manabik Disability Pension Name Mismatch: Disability Certificate, Aadhaar and Bank
Manabik pays Rs 1,000 a month to persons with 40% or more disability in West Bengal, under the Jai Bangla umbrella since 2020. Three papers carry the person's name: the disability certificate (or UDID card), Aadhaar, and the bank passbook. Disability certificates are issued by medical boards, sometimes years before Aadhaar was made, so spellings can differ. This page shows who corrects each paper and how to keep the pension coming.

Manabik Pension Name Mismatch (Quick Answer)
For Manabik, the name on the disability certificate, Aadhaar and bank passbook should match. Ask the medical authority that issued the certificate to correct a spelling on it; correct Aadhaar at a Seva Kendra and the passbook at the branch. For a difference that remains, give an affidavit. Apply at the BDO, SDO or KMC office. The pension is Rs 1,000 a month; no gazette is needed.

| Passbook in a short or old name | Bank branch |
| Old certificate under 50% rules | 40% now qualifies; reapply if refused earlier |

Manabik Disability Pension in West Bengal: Rs 1,000 a Month
Manabik was started by the Women and Child Development and Social Welfare Department through notification No. 1591-SW/O/1D-01/18 dated 26 March 2018. Notification No. 1781-WCD-20099/2/2018-Part(2) dated 6 May 2020 brought it under the Jai Bangla Scheme, 2020.
Under the 2020 notification, the pension is Rs 1,000 a month from 1 April 2020, for beneficiaries of both Manabik and the older West Bengal Disability Pension Scheme of 2010.
Guides to the scheme list the papers as Aadhaar, ration card and voter ID, the disability certificate (40% or more), an income certificate, a bank passbook and a photograph.
A person cannot draw Manabik along with another state pension such as old age or widow pension. See Jai Bangla old age pension and widow pension for those.
Manabik Rules: 40 Percent Disability and No Income Limit Since 2020
The 2018 scheme required 50% or more disability and family income up to Rs 1,00,000 a year. The 2020 notification lowered the disability bar to 40% and above and removed the income limit.
Some guides still mention an income ceiling. We go by the 2020 notification, but ask your office if an income certificate is still being collected.
If someone was refused earlier for having between 40% and 49% disability, they may now qualify. Ask about applying again.
Disability Certificate and UDID Card: Correcting the Name for Manabik
The disability certificate is issued by a medical authority, usually a board at a government hospital, and many people now also hold a UDID card.
If it differs from Aadhaar, ask the office that issued the certificate to correct it, with Aadhaar and a birth or school certificate. Do not get a fresh certificate in a new spelling while the old one exists.
If correction will take time, give an affidavit that both names are the same person; see one and the same person affidavit.
Aadhaar and Bank Account Names for the Manabik Pension
Aadhaar is the base record. If it is wrong, correct it at an Aadhaar Seva Kendra; see name change in Aadhaar. UIDAI has arrangements for people who cannot give fingerprints or iris scans; ask at the Seva Kendra.
The pension goes into the person's bank account. The account holder's name should match Aadhaar. If the passbook differs, correct it; see name correction in a bank account.
If the person cannot apply alone, ask the office how a family member or guardian may help with the form.
Where to Apply for Manabik and Fix Details: BDO, SDO or KMC
Guides say forms are available free at the Block Development Officer in rural areas, the Sub-Divisional Officer in municipal areas, and the Kolkata Municipal Corporation office in Kolkata, and are submitted to the same office.
For a name correction after sanction, go to the same office with the corrected paper and a written request, and keep the acknowledgement.
